Hey There Delilah

Another song that makes me cry tonight. I used to laugh every single time when I heard this song but not anymore I guess. At least not these days.

Hey There Delilah - Plain White T's

Young Folks

This song suddenly pops up in my mind tonight.. keep playing it over and over again for almost an hour already.. finally dropped my first tear.

Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John

I'm sorry

I'm sorry.
I never want this to happen. Never.
But you should know I'm the one who suffer most.
Why do people keep stepping on me?
Why?
Don't they know I'm the person who hate myself most already?
They don't need to do this. Really don't need to...

I'm sorry.

PLEASE care about the people around you!!!

A 107-year-old woman suffering from flu hanged herself in her Yau Ma Tei (Hong Kong) home yesterday. Details here.

This old woman used to be a very healthy woman and she suffered from flu the past few days. She thought her life was going to end and DID express this feeling to her family that she wanna die! And as usual, her family just comforted her a bit and totally IGNORED her depression.

Please, please never ignore when someone come and say he/she want to die. Don't risk it. They may be joking, but what if they are serious? If they are serious, the only reason they tell you the thought must be they try to ask you for help. If you ignore, they feel more hopeless.

Just a little bit care about the people around you, our life will be more beautiful.

My pics and my mind

This is one of the photos I took last week at Haji Lane. I posted it to an online photography forum and asked for comments. The first comment I got was "Saddddddddddddd"

I was not surprised by the comment. Actually I felt a bit confused recently when I went shooting. Seems that I've lost the sense of good shot. Well.. just like a storyteller who doesn't have any more stories to tell. I lost my sensitivity.

When I took this picture, I was not sad, and I was not happy. That's the reason of not able to take a good pic that can show my feelings.. because I didn't have a feeling!! Isn't it terrible?

But deep down in my mind, I'm still a sad person, so I'm kind of attracted by sad scene like this when I didn't have any emotion. To me.. it is not a good sign.

I did take happy photos before. But those were taken when I was in very good mood. I think this is the photo that can reflect the true me at this moment. A bit sad, and I don't even know.

But compared to the pictures I took when I was very upset.. I guess this one is just a very plain normal picture, at least it is very colorful. =P

All asian countries should become 1 country to make life easier... for the westerners

a comment copied from facebook by a Hong Kong student studying overseas when discussing about "the dumbest questions you've ever been asked about Hong Kong"

Me talking to an American girl while traveling
with a friend:"I'm from hong kong."

American girl "Oh really i love sushi!!!"

American girl to my fd :"what about you? where
are you from?"

"Taiwan"
"you are so lucky i love thai food and you can
eat it all the time!!!"

my fd: "..........."

The truth

Sometimes I think I don't understand the people around me,
the truth is, I don't understand myself.

National pride?

Today is the National Day of Singapore. The country is celebrating its 42th birthday.
I watched the National Day Parade at home because I didn't have a ticket and also didn't have the money to buy the ticket while someone from the internet was trying to sell one ticket to me at SGD$100 yesterday.

The Parade was great and I'd really love to see it live if I'm still in this country next year. I'm always a parade lover. I love watching parade and being part of the parade!

I'm so jealous when I see people so proud of their own countries. When they all stood up and sang their National song "Count On Me" and the National Anthem, you can see proud from their eyes. They hugged each other, they sang with a big smile on their faces.

Why am I jealous? Because I don't have that kind of national pride to my own country - China. I grew up in Hong Kong, I was educated by the British Gov't and I was so lost every time when I was asked to fill in the "Nationality" field in any forms. I guess I was the minority that felt happy about the handover in 1997. Honestly, I do have doubts about the Chinese Gov't, but I can tell you, the British Gov't wasn't that good as you think. At the end of the day, Hong Kong was just a British colony, NOT part of England.

Back to national pride.. I had already finished my formal education when 1997 came. So I never have a chance to get any education about my country.. and therefore, I can't even sing my National Anthem.

I have to say, I'm proud to be a Chinese. But sometimes I'm also glad that I'm not treated as a Chinese when I'm overseas. People in other countries tend to treat us, the Hong Kongers, differently to the mainlanders. I truely understand that. And I feel sad when people say bad things about the mainlanders. Yes, I feel sad, but not offended, because what people said are the truth. That's how other people feel about the mainlanders.

I feel sad because it's very hard to let other people understand China's situation. If they understand more about our history, and try to understand the subtle behavior of other countries, they might be able to understand why it is so hard for us to "improve" to the world standard.

Somehow I really wish that all the people in my country including myself can have that strong national pride as the Singaporeans one day. It will be a beautiful day.

Here are two theme songs of the Singapore National Day Parade 2007, very nice.
