Please note that everything I'm going to talk about in this entry DOES NOT apply to the new generation Chinese guys. It only applies to Chinese men aged 50 or above.
Today (Tuesday) I've got a break from 12nn to 6pm, so I decided to go out of campus to have some sunbath. I took a bus and I saw an old Chinese man get on the bus with his wife.
I saw the man got on the bus first and quickly walked to the seats next to the exit door, he stood right next to the seat of the front row and looked back to his wife. His wife walked very slowly and she needed an umbrella to help her walk. When she almost reached seat, the old man pointed at the seat, (a human gesture telling her to sit there), waited until she sat down, then he sat down at the seat right behind her.
Here's the seatings of the bus.
Exit
1st row: A
2nd row: BC
3rd row: DE
so his wife was sitting at Seat A while the old man sat at Seat C. Seat B was occupied.
A while later, the person at Seat B got off the bus. The old man waited a while longer, used his hand to feel if Seat B was still "hot", then he moved himself to Seat B.
Then, he asked his wife to move and sit with him (i.e. Seat C)
How he did that?
He just ordered "Sit here", without a smile. The old lady gave him a big smile and went to sit with him.
You must be wondering why would I say this old man "lovely" while he is so rude to his wife..
But if you were there watching him, you will also love him. And in face, this is a common charaterisitc of the Chinese men in that generation.
I watched every movement of the old man. I would say he's shy rather then rude. I clearly remember that just after he ordered his wife "sit here", he gave all of us a quick look, and he looked a bit embarrassed. That one second, he was SUPER lovely!!
Old Chinese men are all like this! No matter how much he loves his wife, he will never show it in the public. On the other hand, he always wants to show his power over his wife. But to me, some of them don't really want to do so.. they just don't know what to do, they just think it's not right to show tenderness.. but in fact they love their wife very much and they care about their wife! If you look at the details, you will surely see what they did!
And I think they are much better than those guys who say "I love you" every five minutes, who will brust in tears for you when you just get hurt by a piece of paper. To me, these guys are just acting. Disgusting.
Of course, you will also hear Western men say "I love you" to their lovers all the time, but this is their culture. They say it when they mean it. And they are not acting! However, white guys are not my cup of tea.. hehe
I love Chinese old men. but I also wish my husband will still hold my hand when we are 90 years old!
sigh.. I wish I were 20-30 years older...

Romantic in lecture
Finally back home after lots and lots of things happened today. I have so many things that I want to share but let me just tell you something I saw this evening during the Intercultural Communication lecture.
This lecture is scheduled at 6-8pm, so I was a bit tired and easily distracted by others in the lecture. Lucky that I've already done the reading so I didn't need full effort to listen to the lecture..
A young little guy was sitting on the next seat but one row in front of me, there was nobody sitting right in front of me, so I could clearly see the things on his table, even his writings!
I noticed this guy busy playing with his cellphone during the first 10-15 minutes of the lecture, but I didn't pay much attention to him because students here LOVE to send SMS during classes!! But suddenly he put away his cellphone and took out his laptop and turned it on.
I first thought he was going to take notes directly to the ppt file instead of writing them down since people nowadays don't WRITE anymore! But I was wrong..
Soon after he logged on his computer, he connected to the Internet, a big banner "Internet SMS Chat" grabbed my attention!
I don't usually do this, but I did watch him typing his messages because I really wanna know WHAT the hell is so urgent that he had to connect to the Internet and message someone during the class.
and here were the messages: (maybe not the exact wordings, but same meaning)
note that there were no responses from the other side during his "conversation"
msg1: Darling, are you there?
msg2: My phone batt is gone. I wonder if you are there.
msg3: I'm having lecture. The batt suddenly gone. I'm afraid that you think I'm ignoring you so I connect to the Internet immediately and tell you I care about you and I LOVE YOU.
msg4: guess you are not there.
something like this.. and then he turned off the laptop.
later I found out he's a Singaporean.
How?
We were told to write down a title of ourself (cannot use our name) and three words to describe our culture. (I will talk probably about this interesting exercise later).
The lecturer use South Africa as the title since she is an South African
And his title was Singapore.
And one of his three words describing his own culture was "intelligence"
What I wanna say is... IF I've got a boyfriend like him, I'll kill him for sure!!
Just because of the messages he sent!!
Where are the men??

How feminine am I?
| You Are 80% Feminine, 20% Masculine |
You are in touch with your feminine side. Sensitive, intuitive, and caring are all words that describe you. And you're just masculine enough to relate to both men and women. |
| You Are a Fierce Femme |
You have a wild side, and you aren't afraid to bring it out when the time is right. But you also know when to hang back and keep your "crazy chick" persona in check. In fact, some of your friends may be surprised to find out how far you can take it... You may look mild mannered, but it's all an act! |
| Men See You As Understated |
You are an intreguing mix of girl and woman. You're feminine, quiet, and a total mystery to most men. Yet they often feel the urge to protect you, even if they don't know you. You *are* a flirt, but you usually only flirt with those you know well |
| You Don't Have a Boyfriend Because You are Too Shy |
When a guy gets to know you, he finds a great catch Problem is... you're too shy for most guys to get to know. From meeting someone to dating, you usually have your guard up. And while you're just holding back, it makes you seem like you've got something to hide. |
| You Don't Need a Man ... or Want One! |
Generally, you're very happy being a single woman. And anyone who has a problem with that... well, that's there problem. Not that you wouldn't share your life with the almost perfect guy. You simply won't settle though. Your life is too good to share with some substandard man! |

The smell of a man
One of my favourite Chinese writers 亦舒 always says that when you first look at a man, you should always look at the pair of shoes he is wearing, cos it tells you a lot about the man. Yes, I agree with her. I always look at guys' shoes and they really tell me what type of person they are. I'm not talking about the brand of the shoes, how expensive they are...etc. I'm talking about how much the guy take care about his shoes. Do they shine their leather shoes? Do they clean their white sport shoes? It tells you a lot.My father is exactly those men who always have his leather shoes shined by himself and his sport shoes washed until like a new pair of shoes. And I got to learn how to do the shoe shine of my own leather shoes when I was a little kid.
However, in some places this hint doesn't really help. Places like Singapore, HK and Australia in summer time, where everyone just wear thongs or slippers.. you can't really tell how well they take care of their "shoes". I've found out another way to "understand" a guy a bit more long time ago.. by his smell. It works anytime and anywhere and it works even better than their shoes.
The smell of a man tells you a lot. Smokers and guys with bad smells are never my cup of tea. I don't mean to discriminate those people who have body odor.. but there are so many ways to deal with it.. at least to prevent other from smelling it from your body. So I guess if I can smell it from you, it just means that you don't really care about it.
When I first realized I somehow care about the smells of my male friends, I did think about all my friends and their smells. I found that all the male friends that I can get alone well smell good, well.. at least ok. Some of them really smell very good. For example, my "brother" in HK is one of the best smelling guys I've ever known. As far as I know, he doesn't wear cologne. He just smells good with his clothes and his body foam etc. Another one is a recent close friend I met here in SG, I don't know much about him, but I think he smells very nice as well.
My ex has a special smell to me. I can't say he smells good, at least the two guys I mentioned above smell better than him. =P But I loved being close to him. He never had bad body smells even when he sweats. He never use deodorant nor cologne. He just like to bath but he never care what kind of bath foam he got to use. well... doesn't sound like the "perfect" type I'm looking for in terms of smells... haha.. but he did smell special to me. Hard to explain.. haha
You may be wondering why I suddenly talk about sexy thing like this... yep.. cos something happened this afternoon when I went swimming in the pool....
I've just finished a few laps and I was adjusting my goggles when a foriegn guy jumped into the lane next to me. I didn't have time to have a clear look at him and I smelt something really really strong and..... made me sick... I swear... he wears perfume!! and it's those strong perfume that I will also get away if a gal wear it....
I really have no idea why a guy would wear perfume to swim in a pool!! I didn't think about it.. I quickly went under the water, adjusted my goggle and swam to the other side of the pool.
Sigh... I later found out that he's quite a handsome guy, with a pretty good body shape, and he swims quite well too.

Who can tell me who did this??
I found this "advertisment" on the internet by accident tonight.
I cannot stop watching it and I cannot stop laughing and laughing... hahaa
Honestly, I don't like Leon Lai, that's why I also don't like the original advertisment.
But I LOVE Jan Lamb.. he's my man!!
And.. you can find such a huge difference after adding him (as Leon's brother) in the advertisment..
It was amazing..
Can someone in HK tell me if the new version is shown on TV or not?? I really wanna know..
I love it!!
But.. I don't really love the brand.. cos Leon Lai has been the spokeperson for it for such a long time..
it really changed my perception towards the brand.. haha
ok..
let's see the ads..
(sorry for those who don't understand Cantonese... )

That guy...
Haven't had this feeling for a very very long time.
I still remember the last time I had the same feeling,
was the nite when I saw the conductor performing on the stage in an orchestra.
I was soooooo attracted by him.
I was sooo attracted by a man, just simply because of his physical appearance.
And it was long long time ago.
It happens again these few days.. when I met this guy.
I know nothing about him of course.. at least up till now.
But I've already met him three times at different places in the Faculty.
First time, I was studying in the library.
I was very tired that day, as usual.. leaning myself on the table while using my laptop.. almost fell asleep..
I noticed him walked by the corridor.. not becoz of his appearance at the first sight..
just becoz he was holding a huge camera.. with a very long lens..
I also take photos.. so I start wondering.. what will be his "target" today..
but then I felt that he noticed me.. I think it's becoz i was the laziest ppl in the library..
all others were very energetic about their work..
I knew exactly what he's going to do.. as a photographer..
he walked away for a little while..
then came back as if there was nothing happened..
I was quite cooperative actually.. I kept myself staring at my laptop... kept my position..
and I heard the sound.. he took a few shots of me..
hahaa.. he's not a very good one though.. his camera is too noisy... that even he was standing quite far away.. i could still hear very clearly..
after a few shots.. I couldn't stand anymore.. I turned my head to him..
as if I just noticed him (hahaha).. and of coz.. i knew that... he quickly walked away...
but just that second when I looked at him.. I was a bit shocked..
I was really attracted by his appearance... his outlook, his style, even the way he hold his camera... just perfect..
I just wish that I had my camera with me so that maybe we could have something to talk.. hahaha...
OK.. a few days later... I met him the second time.. not in the library anymore..
I was sitting in one of the benches in the Faculty using my laptop (again!)... waiting for my friends..
and then I saw him walked by.. with his camera (again!)
I'm sure he saw me.. why? coz I know.. when a photographer carrying his camera, he will just look at everything around him..
so.. it's not "me" that make him look at me.. just becoz I was around.. (if u understand what i'm saying)
he walked pass my bench and disappeared within 5 seconds.. he is soo tall so he walks very fast...
but after a few minutes.. he appeared again~
I was quite happy to see him again..
Although I'm not going to introduce myself to him.. seeing such a good-looking guy could just make my day a lot better!
Lucky me.. I met him AGAIN on the next day..
he didn't see me this time.. coz he was very far away from me..
this time, I was just talking with my friends outside the library
and I happened to see him in an office opposite the library..
hmm.. i think... there's where he works..
coz he doesn't look like an undergrad at all..
at that time.. i've a weird idea..
one day.. i'm going to take a picture of him.. coz he took mine already~~
hahaa
By the way..
I feel so crazy about myself being attracted by a total stranger after all these years..
I mean.. well...
this is not love.. i know..
i'm not going to love anyone anymore.. and I won't let anyone to love me as well.. at least at this moment..
coz.. I can't trust anyone.. and I don't trust love..
the only love I trust.. is the love from my two cute cute cats..
they still love me so much even I leave them alone and go for studying for 2 and a half years
they are still waiting for me..
during CNY, I went back to HK.. I stayed with them most of the time..
I can feel their love... this is something that no one on earth can give me...
But to be honest.. as a woman..
I do long for hugs.. lots of hugs..
I mean being hugged..
that's why I like big guys..
my friends said my ex is not big enough for me.. they said my 1st bf was better..
but he did give me lots of good hugs that made me feel safe..
well... these things... all past already... didn't they?
I do sounds like a kid sometimes..
anyway...
one other thing...
anyone know how to kill headache except for panadol or any medicine?
I dunno why recently I have headache like almost everyday which is very annoying..
